Pflugerville senior forward/wing Christie Mooney scored a game-high 19 points and had a season-best 10 rebounds in an opening round 68-77 loss to Grapevine in the opening round of the Meredith Hatch Memorial Mansfield Rotary Invitational on Monday. Mooney had 3 steals and 1 assists while hitting a near-perfect 8-of-9 from 2-point rangeIn the consolation-bracket on Tuesday, Mooney scored a team-high 24 points and game-high tying 8 steals in a 60-41 win over Mckinney Boyd. Mooney, who was one of two Lady Panthers to score in double digits, also contributed 8 rebounds.
In a 3-point loss to Huntsville, Mooney scored a team-high 14 points. Mooney had 5 rebounds, 6 steals and 2 assists in the 54-57 loss. The senior forward, who leads the state-ranked Lady Panthers in scoring (14.1 ppg), assists (1.8 per game), and blocks (1 per game), is the second-leading scorer in district 25-5A.
Mooney will lead the Lady Panthers (13-7) against Austin Anderson on Saturday, January 2nd. Tipoff in 2:00PM.
